BMW Motorrad Concept 6 Bike Pictures

BMW has just introduced their latest contraption, ‘the fascination, supremacy and riding comfort with six cylinders’. Dubbed Concept 6, BMW’s machine features a straight-six production engine, which is about 100 mm slimmer than all its predecessors and only a bit wider than a large-capacity straight-four with conventional technology. The power output of the BMW Concept 6 is almost the same as the company's 1.3-litre straight-four engines, but the torque is significantly higher matching the one from 1.6 liter engines. This means the BMW Concept 6 outputs 130 Nm or 96 lb-ft of torque from just 2,000 rpm. The bike can rev up to 9,000 rpm.

Yamaha FJR1300AE

2009 Yamaha FJR1300AE Bike Pictures

Yamaha’s electronically controlled clutch-less shifting makes this model the definition of smooth. The 2009 Yamaha FJR1300AE has a reputation as one of the world’s great sport touring motorcycles. The “AE” designation puts an interesting spin on an incredible bike. The YCC-S system with its auto clutch and convenient hand operated electric shifting has revolutionized Sport Touring.

Key Features:

  • For 2009, the FRJ1300AE receives new mapping for YCC-S which aids with improved response while downshifting from neutral.
  • Yamaha exclusive electric-shift five-speed transmission eliminates the clutch lever entirely—now you can click off super-smooth shifts using either the left bar-mounted paddles or the foot-operated gearshift lever.
  • A light-and-rigid aluminum frame, sportbike running gear and standard hard sidebags go beautifully together.
  • Pushbutton adjustable windscreen and a thick comfy seat for two are perfect for comfortable, long-distance riding.
  • The world's first supersport touring bike boasts standard ABS and adjustable ergonomics that widen the gap between it and common sport tourers to a gaping chasm.

  • Ergonomically shaped, large-capacity, 6.6-gallon fuel tank offers excellent comfort and range and is constructed of steel allowing for the use of magnetic tankbags.
  • Rear frame with integrated grab handle makes lifting the bike onto the centerstand a snap.
  • An additional catalyst and a heated oxygen sensor are located in the exhaust for increased control range and low emissions.

Additional Features:

  • Slim profile even with bags in place for excellent in-town maneuverability.
  • Subframe-fitted quick-release luggage mounts provide easy use of the standard accessory hard sidecases, which are conveniently matched to the ignition key.
  • Long dual seat features two-part construction using different foam densities for the front and rear sections, ensuring plush comfort for both rider and passenger.
  • Big windscreen adjusts over a wide range for improved wind protection with little negative pressure.

  • Powerful dual-bulb taillight features integrated turn signals for a slick, one-piece look that's aerodynamic and conspicuous.
  • Integrated front turn signals with clear lenses add to the FJR1300AE's cutting-edge aerodynamic bodywork.
  • Glove box contains a 12V outlet for phones, GPS units, electric vests, etc.
  • Standard toolkit located in convenient storage compartment under passenger seat.

Yamaha YZ450F

2009 YAMAHA YZ450F Bike Walls

The biggest change for 2009 Yamaha YZ450F is the swingarm. Its hydro-formed shape is altered to give the bike a claimed improvement in cornering and traction by reducing the rigidity in twisting motion and in vertical stiffness. It is stiffer horizontally, or in loads placed from the side as well as being 350 grams lighter.

Inside the engine is one significant update. It is the use of longer shift fork bars which allows the bar to have more shaft surface area inside the cases which makes it harder for the forks to bind during shifts, especially between second and third. There is a small update to the ignition stator plate where it received a fourth mounting point and the color of the valve cover now matches the side covers in black.

Key Features:

  • The bike that started the four-stroke revolution benefits from chassis refinements that ensure the five-titanium-valved YZ450F remains at the head of the open-class pack.
  • Subtle modifications to the suspension mean light, precise, confident handling at any speed.
  • Head and exhaust design delivers stronger low- to midrange power without sacrificing top end power.
  • Ready to race straight out of the crate—with a ProTaper® aluminum handlebar in adjustable clamps, titanium shock spring, gripper seat, Excel rims, etc.
  • Five-speed gearbox provides maximum flexibility and the right gear for a wide range of riding environments.
  • Dry sump lubrication system circulates more oil for the best durability in motocross.

New for 2009:

  • Top triple clamp has two sets of mounting holes, providing 4 handlebar positions to suit a wide variety of riders: standard, 10mm back, or 10mm or 20mm forward.
  • Newly designed swingarm is lighter and helps to achieve excellent rigidity balance for superb cornering and rear wheel traction.
  • Lightweight suspension linkage is redesigned to match the new swingarm.
  • New rear wheel hub is lighter and designed for the larger 25mm diameter axle (up from 22mm), helping to achieve the overall rigidity balance of rear suspension components.
  • New clutch lever is shorter, stronger, and lighter, with a lever position adjuster to accommodate different riders. Quick adjuster makes maintenance easy.
  • Front brake hose clamp is now aluminum, greatly reducing its weight.
  • New seat cover has great grip and more durability, and it's easy to clean.
  • Premium drive chain has gold colored plates for outstanding looks.

Engine:

  • 449cc, five-valve, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine is super-powerful yet tractable.
  • 39mm Keihin FCR flat-slide carburetor with throttle position sensor (TPS) and leak jet delivers precise fuel/air mixture and instant throttle response.
  • Lightweight titanium valves and load-reduced springs minimize reciprocating mass for fast-revving, hard-hitting power delivery across the rev range.
  • Primary kickstarting with automatic decompression and convenient, handlebar-mounted hot start lever ensures easy restarts.
  • Large-capacity radiator is reinforced for greater strength.

Chassis/Suspension:

  • Extensively tested aluminum frame uses a mix of alloy castings, forgings and extrusions to produce a tuned-flex frame that makes the YZ the finest-handling motocross bike ever.
  • Speed-Sensitive System 48mm KYB® fork damping force is controlled by piston speed: provides a smoother, more precise ride.
  • Titanium-sprung, four-way adjustable rear shock with Kashima-coated internals reduces friction for fantastic compliance and great handling.
  • More weight savings come via two-piece (part aluminum, part plastic) engine protector plates and thin-walled engine guard construction.
  • Removable aluminum rear subframe constructed of square-section tubing for light weight and easy maintenance.
  • Lightweight front-wheel hub for reduced unsprung weight and increased durability.
  • Lightweight front- and rear-brake calipers with aluminum pistons and anti-bubble front master cylinder; wave-style rotors reduce unsprung weight and deliver strong stopping power.

Additional Features:

  • Wide (55mm) footpegs provide excellent boot traction and rider comfort.
  • ProTaper® aluminum handlebar for strength and performance.
  • Works-style clutch lever features oversize barrel adjuster for easy, on-the-fly adjustability of lever/cable play.
  • Repackable exhaust silencer.

Yamaha MT-OS

Yamaha Ms-01 01

The Tokyo Motor Show isn't just for cars. Anything carrying a motor qualifies and that includes bikes. Namely, Yamaha showed off a raft of new bike concepts that left the press a-buzz. My favorite concept is the MT-OS (pictured above). The radically styled bike pushes 1670 cc's which would probably leave you outrunning almost anything on four wheels. Yamaha, build it and they will come.

Yamaha Four-Wheeled Ride

yamaha-bike_K6STM_7071

Yamaha are all set to launch a four-wheeled bike that will redefine your comfort level when your ass is parked on a bike. This amazing machine has V-Twin engine and electric motor. Yamaha clarifies that this new model has similar size as usual motorcycles. In case of stopping or parked, the Tesseract can effectively maintain the machine upright. While the electric motor makes it green, the four wheels give it balance and give you comfort. The bike is being fitted with specially crafted seating to make sure that you feel like you are indeed riding air at that blurring speed.

Yamaha EC-02 Electric Bike

iPod dock that runs on the road, the Yamaha glow-in-dark E02 Electric Bike

We’ve seen before that a bed comes with ab iPod dock, which was claimed to be the biggest accessory for iPod ever. Now, this time is an iPod accessory that runs on the road. It’s an electric bike from Yamaha, EC-02, which comes with a built-in iPod dock. It’s kinda inappropriate to say that such a big bike is an accessory of iPod. But, it’s undeniable that iPod is simply so popular that even an electric bike needs to have a dock for it to increase its selling point.

Lets look at what is so cool about the Yamaha EC-02 Electric Bike, which is supposed to be the topic here not the iPod dock. This bike comes with a pretty appealing feature i.e it glows in the dark. The idea behind the glow-in-dark feature, according to Yamaha is ‘The technology enables the exterior to give a more vividly stereoscopic impression of the three-dimensional shape of any surface treated with the film’.

The bike is fully electric, which doesn’t burn any fuel but can cope with a rather short range of just 40 miles and top speed of 18mph. It should be sufficient and handy for you to ride it around in a small town. Furthermore, its small size is definitely easier for you to find any space to slot it in for parking. This bike comes with an extremely quiet engine. To some of you, this will lose the real feeling of riding a bike. But, no worry, there are also stereo speakers in the faux tank, so you can load motorcycle sounds onto your iPod and hook it up to this bike to let you have the kind of feeling of riding a real bike.

This bike is currently available for sale in Japan only for around $2,000. Anyway, this electric bike simply reminds me the kind of moped that I’d ever ridden in the city of Amsterdam back in 1997.
